1BR South Melbourne Apartment

Mostly enjoyable but a few things need to be tweeked in the apartment. Positive: Great location, so close to transport, 3 tram spots from the city. There were lots of restaurants, coffee shops, etc nearby. The apartment was clean and tidy when I booked in, had most of the things I required. Great security in the units. Negative: There was a bit of a drama collecting the key from a nearby IGA, the staff member had no idea what I was asking for until I showed him the email, he was unhelpful. But I did have a better interaction when the key was dropped back to the same store. I was disappointed when I went to use the shower gel provided and the container was basically empty so I had to purchase my own. Similar with the hand soap situation, no cakes of soap provided and a pump dispenser that had enough for only 2 hand washes. If I had known prior to arriving I would have brought these items with me. Also the cold water tap in the bathroom was leaking unless it was turned off so far that I had to use a towel to help me turn the tap (probably just needs the washers replacing). These may seem like minor things but when you are travelling they just cause unnecessary angst.

Adequate, but room for improvement. The sofa was more comfortable to sleep on than the bed. Positive: The place was clean and comfortable to hang out in the evenings. Negative: I don't mind a firm bed, this this mattress was ROCK hard, and after the second night of an uncomfortable sleep, I opted to sleep on the sofa instead. It was also very cold, and the bedding provided was not sufficient to keep warm. The "extra blanket" in the cupboard was merely a thin decorative blanket, which did not add any extra warmth. There is a bath, which is one of the key reasons I chose this place, but there was no bath plug, which was very disappointing. A few more minor things - the bathroom tap leaks, loudly, the bathroom extractor fan doesn't work, and the wifi info in the manual is out of date - you'll have to grab these details from the tiny tiny writing on the modem.

Positive: The location is my favourite . As I always book it when my wily come visit me from China. Negative: The cleaning can be improved But it does not bother me much as I can do some myself .

In need of an overhaul. Shop around. Positive: Excellent location. Negative: Rude and unresponsive host. No responses at all to texts sent to the two host's contact numbers. Eventually got a response when I messaged through Booking.com, but unhelpful and rude. Room was freezing cold. Wall mounted convection heater worked intermittently. The other portable heater supplied was inadequate on its own. Refer to the photos of the filters to the clothes dryer and stick vacuum cleaner. The host's response to the picture of the clothes dryer filter was "Yes they (the cleaners) are human and sometimes they miss things." Guess they missed the stick vacuum as well... Readers of this review can be the judge. Other issues included a doona leaking filler when moved, only one half used toilet roll and only two dishwasher tablets supplied for a four night stay, clothes rails loose and falling down, leaking taps, loose door knobs and a coffee maker with no pods. To cap this off, the host offered to refund the cleaning fee, but appears to be reneging as it has not eventuated. Booking.com were absolutely useless in resolving this. We left having replaced the batteries in the remotes and the two clocks.
